FedFS

FedFS System

FedFS uses UID (Universal IDentification) codes to uniquely identify every resource on the system, such as files, links, and procedures. These codes are randomly generated 8-byte hexadecimal values that look like X.00000000.00000000.

The interesting fact is that there are so many possible UID values that every atom on earth can be assigned multiple values and there would still be more left over. This means that each resource on the FedFS system can be identified without having to remember complex file names or share potentially insecure URLs. Instead, references to resources can be securely shared using the UID codes, ensuring that access is only granted to authorized users.
